Is the grass greener on the other side?

Is the grass greener on the other side?

Happy Saint Paddy's Day!

In the spirit of the green holiday let's talk about if the grass is actually greener on the other side?

Over the years I’ve often seen a pattern concerning employees during the slower business season. It seems when business tends to be slower that I receive many phone calls about  potential “job changes". When I do receive these phone calls my first question always is  "Why?"  As in most cases the grass is certainly not  greener on the other side when doing the exact same position. My next question always is "Have you discussed this with your supervisors/managers/boss that you are not happy?"  In most cases actually almost every time the answer is NO. This really does bother me! How have we reached a point in this society where we cannot talk to our superiors when we have concerns about our jobs? Communication is so important in every aspect of life and especially in a job. Plus, as a supervisor why is there such a disconnect that we do not know our team is not happy in their position? When we're happy in our job it shows on the floor and in our numbers.

There seems to be so much stress, low morale in businesses these days. Remember that when you have employees that are nervous at work and when they are not talking that something is up. There is often a problem and you should deal with it or at least speak about it before it gets too extreme and your employee quits. Always remember that without a Team there isn't a business!

Have a great weekend and as always if you have any questions please ask!

Until next time,

Denise
